In Alsace, there are seven different varieties of grapes, with each sort making a different wine.
First of all, Alsatian wine grapes are best known for producing aromatic white wines.
Each grape-variety is seperatly fermented.
Pinot noir grapes are also grown for red wines and for Crémant d’Alsace, an Alsatian sparkling wine.
The different varieties are: pinot ( blanc, gris and noir ), riesling, sylvaner, muscat and gewurztraminer.
